A little belated...

I meant to blog this the other week but I've just been so crazy busy with work, squares, my gorgeous daughter and I completely forgot that I hadn't shared this stunning blanket with you.

My sister Jess is one of the most talented crafters I know.  She (along with my other sister Thea) was the main force behind teaching me to crochet, encouraging and inspiring me.  She's been crocheting for many years, since we were kids, and she makes such beautiful things.

When I started this project to help support 'Cwtch of Comfort', I called my sisters and asked for their help.  They've both offered to make blankets as well as some squares to go into a special 'Sisters Blanket' made by the three of us.  Jess sent hers in a couple of weeks ago and it's so stunning!

It's so soft and tactile-she's worked it with bobbles in the border to match up to the squares.  Isn't it lovely?

These are the squares for our special blanket.  Just waiting on Thea now...

Long absence....

Sorry for all the quiet here-I've been a bit down recently and have found it a little too much to post anything.  I've got a few projects on the go-a couple of blankets and I'm hoping to make a Mandela for the lovely Attic24 and Yarndale.

Myf and I had a lovely May Day bank holiday weekend visiting my beautiful sister Mummycat, my lovely brother in law and my gorgeous nieces as eldest niece was taking her First Communion.  Myf and I spent ages trying to find suitable outfits-she was trying on loads of dresses that weren't quite right and we ended up in a charity shop that sold bridal and bridesmaid dresses.  She tried on one that she really, really loved and looked so gorgeous in but it had some kind of staining along the bottom right...nothing too bad but it would show up!

I spent ages taking up the hem and underskirt (Oh, the joys of not having a sewing machine!) and then devising some way to cover up those marks.
I naturally turned to a favourite book, Crochet Bouquet, and made some little flat flowers in various sizes in similar shades of embroidery silk.  Those got stitched over the worst of the marks and then I stitched a line circling the flowers over some of the last bits.  Added a few tiny crystal beads and done!

I'm making a lovely ripple blanket (first time!) for my sister's neighbour's daughter-it looks so pretty already :-D

Last October, Myf and I went to visit my sister in Kent for a few days.  We had such a lovely time with them all!  I was chatting to my brother in law about my little digital camera and the swim it had over the summer and he mentioned having a camera that he doesn't use any more.  He disappeared into the loft for a bit and came back dome with a beautiful Canon camera with lots of shiny buttons!
I've waited so long before trying it out partly because of nerves and partly because I don't tend to carry a camera around (which I'm trying to correct as I often wish I could take a picture of something)

So yesterday, Myf and I were feeling a little better in the afternoon and fancied a walk through the park.  I brought the camera....

So far, I've kept it on the Auto function and just played around with the zoom but I've just figured out how to set it onto black and white so I'm going to have fun taking some arty shots :-)

In a couple of photos, you can see a War Memorial-it's up on Pontypridd Common which is up one of our lovely steep hills :-)  Myf and I are going to take a walk up there today (with the camera again) so you'll be seeing it again close up!  There's an amazing Stone Circle up there as well so hopefully the weather will stay lovely and I can share some great photos with you later.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone <3

I'm happily single and expect to remain that way but I don't think romance should be the only focus on a holiday that is supposed to celebrate love.  So along that theme, I want to use my 100th post (yippee!) to celebrate the people I love.

I adore my nieces and nephew completely

As well as my brothers in law (although I don't have a decent photo of them!)

My parents-we've had ups and downs but we have a strong relationship now that I cherish all the more for the work it's taken :-)

My fur babies-they're both so different but they bring us so much joy

My friends and chosen family-both in real life and online-I'm so grateful to have you all in my life <3
